Vintage 1947 Vespa 98 Scooter: the first Vespa
It 's the first Vespa model built on a large scale by Piaggio (dedicated to aeronautic engines engineering), entirely designed by Corradino D'Ascanio and presented for the first time in 1948. Presented to the public at the golf club of Rome, on the shield it appears for the first time the Piaggio logotype in place of the aeronautic one. Produced in Pontedera and marketed by Lancia dealerships, in the first year were produced 2484 units. Engine of 98 cc., 2-stroke, 3 speeds, 3.2 hp at 4500 rpm for 60 km/h maximum speed .
